Hi everyone,
Officially, it is not possible for an end user to upgrade the storage in these models after purchase. However, as first discovered by site sponsor Other World Computing, it has a removable SSD module like earlier MacBook Air models, but it uses a different connector. Photo Credit: Apple, Inc. (Left - 11' MacBook Air, Right - 13' MacBook Air). The next step is to take the old hard drive out and prepare your MacBook Pro for replacement. To do that, you want to start with your computer upside down on a solid, static-free surface. You may want to have little cups or a place with sides on it for the next few steps. Newer Air models, no older than the 2018 version, unfortunately, have their drives affixed inside the computer and cannot be individually replaced. Whether you choose to seek assistance from a local Apple Store or a certified professional, such as CPR, is entirely up to you.
I want to replace the SSD in a MacBook Air (13-inch, early 2014) model. Currently it conains a 120GB Apple SSD but I'm pretty much reaching the storage limit.
I want to upgrade to a 500 GB SSD.
When I see the iFixit website, it shouldn't be too difficult:
Apple lacie rugged. However, I'm not sure which SSD I can buy. Did somebody do a SSD upgrade for their MacBook? And which SSD did you bought?
I wanted to upgrade it with the Samsung 850 EVO M.2 SSD but I've read some different topics on the internet saying that it won't fit / work with the MacBook Air.
I can buy a SSD on the iFixit website but it will cost nearly $ 600,- dollar which is way too much in my opinion.

Any tips on how to upgrade my SSD for a decent price?

p.s. Does anyone know if Apple sells separate SSD's to customers?
